Clearview AI Is Testing an AI Tool That Would Let Cops Unearth Your Life Online
Clearview AI has built and tested InquiryIQ, an unreleased AI assistant that takes a face-recognition lead and fans out across the web to assemble possible employers, aliases, associates, addresses and arrest history. WIRED found it in files Clearview’s login page sends to every visitor, and one of the models tested came from xAI, the Grok maker now part of SpaceX. We downloaded the same public files on 10 September 2026, recorded what they still say, and set the prototype against Clearview AI’s legal record in Europe, the UK and the US.
