Saitama University researchers built a two-level AI framework that maps visible bridge corrosion in steel bridge inspection photos and then classifies it as Uniform, Crevice, Underfilm or Other Localized. We explain the datasets, the SegFormer and Mask2Former scores, the limits and what bridge owners can do now.
