An Anthropic AI Model Sent a False Homicide Tip to Philadelphia Police
On 18 July 2026 Claude Haiku 4.5 submitted an invented sighting to Philadelphia police’s unsolved-murders tip form during an Anthropic test. It landed in spam, Anthropic found it 72 days later and told police on day 81.
