Pay As You Go

IT support  on demand

Skilled UK IT engineers, billed by the quarter-hour. Use us once or use us every week — either way you only pay for the time we work.

Pay-as-you-go is for businesses that need real IT support but don’t want to be locked into a monthly contract. Call us when something breaks, when a project lands, or when your team needs an extra pair of hands. We log in, fix it, and bill you for the time spent — no retainer, no minimum spend, no notice period.

Every job is triaged before the clock starts. You’ll always get an estimate — usually in writing — before we work, and an itemised invoice at the end showing exactly what we did and how long it took.

Why people pick pay-as-you-go

Three reasons businesses choose us when they don’t want a monthly contract.

No contract

No minimum spend, no notice period, no fixed monthly fee. Use us once or use us weekly — entirely up to you.

15-minute billing

Time is rounded to the nearest quarter-hour. If a job takes 22 minutes, you're billed for 30 — not a full hour.

Same engineers

The UK team supporting our monthly customers handles your pay-as-you-go work too — not a junior overflow desk.

How a job runs

A repeatable four-step flow on every pay-as-you-go ticket — from the first call to the final invoice.

Step 1 · Raise

Call, email or web form. Tell us what's happening, when it started, who is affected, and any access details.

Step 2 · Triage

An engineer reviews and joins remotely if needed, diagnoses the issue, and gives you a time estimate — before any billable clock starts.

Step 3 · Resolve

We fix the issue, escalate to vendors where needed, and pause the clock whenever we're waiting on you or a third party.

Step 4 · Invoice

One itemised invoice once the job is closed — showing the work done, time taken, and rate applied. 14-day terms.

When pay-as-you-go fits — and when it doesn't

PAYG is brilliant for some situations and a poor fit for others. Here’s an honest take.

01 · Right for one-off issues

Computer won't boot, printer setup, email won't send, a leaver / joiner to handle, one-off Microsoft 365 admin task — classic PAYG territory.

02 · Right for project bursts

Office move, hardware refresh, M365 migration, network rework, security incident clean-up — a defined piece of work with an end date.

03 · Better on monthly if…

You need a guaranteed SLA, MFA enforced everywhere, monitored backups with test restores, proactive patching or a predictable monthly cost.

Response expectations

PAYG response is best-effort, not contractual. Here’s what to typically expect.

EmergencyWithin 1 hourDrop-everything tickets — server down, ransomware, complete outage. Emergency rate applies, subject to engineer availability.

Same business dayBefore 17:00Standard remote tickets raised in business hours, Mon–Fri before 14:00, are typically picked up the same working day.

Next business dayLate afternoonTickets raised after 14:00 or on a Friday afternoon roll to the next business day unless flagged as emergency.

Out-of-hoursBy appointmentEvening and weekend work is pre-booked. Subject to availability. Surcharge rate applies; minimum 1-hour charge.

Industries we support

Pay-as-you-go is sector-agnostic — but we already know the compliance patterns in the regulated and document-heavy spaces where most of our clients sit.

Pay-as-you-go — common questions

Correct — there’s no monthly minimum, no setup fee and no contract. If you use us for 15 minutes, you pay for 15 minutes. If you don’t need us, you pay nothing.

All work is billed to the nearest 15 minutes from the moment you give the go-ahead. Triage and quoting are free. The clock pauses when we’re waiting on you, a vendor, or a download / reboot. You get an itemised statement showing every entry.

Yes, easily. If you find you’re using us regularly, we’ll show you the maths — usually around 4–6 hours a month is the break-even point, and our monthly plans add SLAs, monitored backups, MFA and more on top.

Yes, pre-booked. Out-of-hours and weekend work runs at our out-of-hours rate (£160/hr) with a 1-hour minimum charge. We need at least 48 hours’ notice for non-emergency weekend work.

On pay-as-you-go there’s no contractual SLA. In practice, in-hours tickets are typically picked up within the hour and emergencies are picked up faster. If you need guaranteed response times, our monthly plans carry written SLAs.

Yes — anywhere in the UK. On-site is £125/hr in business hours, plus travel (either at HMRC mileage or a quoted fixed travel fee). For visits outside our usual area we agree the travel cost up-front.
